This full day excursion on Rainbow Mountain is a perfect addition for experienced hikers to their Peru trip. You are picked up from your hotel in Cusco at 4:00AM for a 3 hour drive to the Quesoyuni community. Visit Japura on the way, a small Andean community, and have breakfast there. Hike toward Kariawiri, the starting point of the trek to the impressive "7-Color Mountain." Enjoy the natural spectacle in front of you as well as the imposing mountains that fill the landscape with color. Rainbow Mountain, (or Vinicunca), is in the Willkanuta Mountain Range, nestled in the greater Andes Mountains. On this trek, you will reach 17,000 feet where you will enjoy a picnic lunch and take in the views of surrounding red mountains. Your descent will take you back to Kairawiri where your adventure began. Transfer back to your Cusco hotel for a much-deserved evening of rest.
