Tips for Planning a Galapagos, Ecuador + Machu Picchu Peru Trip

A trip to the Galapagos and Machu Picchu is a trip-of-a-lifetime for many and Adventure Life can customize your trip to fit your precise interests, budget and schedule. Here are some trip planning tips:

Plan a minimum of two weeks
The logistics of getting to both remote destinations is time consuming. To get to Machu Picchu, one must fly first to Lima, then Cusco, then take a train. To get to Galapagos, one must fly to Quito (or Guayaquil) first, spend the night, then fly to the islands in the morning. Also, we recommend taking a Galapagos cruise of at least 5 days, as 4-day cruises are criticized for being too short. 8-day Galapagos cruises are considered ideal.

Spend time in Cusco & Sacred Valley
Both of these must-see destinations are on the way to Machu Picchu and greatly add to the Inca experience, so plan on spending at least a day in each, or better, two.

Explore Quito, Ecuador, the Northern Inca Empire
The colonial capital city of Quito, Ecuador has the best-restored historical district of any city in the Americas and is perched upon the slopes of a 15,000 foot active volcano.

Discover the Amazon Rainforest
Easily escape to the Peruvian Amazon or Ecuadorian Amazon either from Cusco, Lima or Quito with a quick domestic flight into the most biodiverse place on the planet.
