Day 1: Seward | Embark

Following your included transfer from Anchorage, arrive in Seward, a historic gateway to Alaska’s coastal wonders. After a safety briefing, relax with drinks and dinner as you set sail around 9:00 PM. Most crossings take place overnight to maximize daylight for exploration, allowing for smooth open-water travel while you rest.

Day 2: Driftwood Bay State Marine Park

Wake up in the tranquil waters of Driftwood Bay State Marine Park, surrounded by Alaska’s rugged beauty. Stroll along pristine beaches, explore muskeg meadows on guided tours, or join Kayak 101 for expert tips on paddling these scenic waters. Watch for incredible wildlife, from majestic whales to playful sea lions.

Day 3: Montague Island or Hinchinbrook Island Exploration

Today's destination is flexible between Montague Island and Hinchinbrook Island, allowing you to adjust based on weather and vessel traffic. Montague Island's Zaikof Bay is a great spot for spotting brown bears, while Hinchinbrook offers access to the historic Cape Hinchinbrook Lighthouse. You can enjoy beachcombing, kayaking, or the stunning coastal views.

Day 4-5: Kayak Island

Kayak Island is a place of deep historical significance, where Vitus Bering's expedition encountered the now-extinct Steller's sea cow. Anchoring here can be challenging due to strong currents, but the payoff is worth it. Focus on beachcombing near Pyramid Peak and offer skiff tours if conditions allow. To the north, alternative anchorages near the Martin Islands or Fox Island provide options in case of adverse weather, offering a chance to explore the intertidal zones and possibly hike along the abandoned tracks near the old oil town of Katalla.

Day 6-7: Icy Bay

Icy Bay requires an overnight crossing, but you are rewarded with incredible glacier views and a rich marine environment. Spend two days exploring the bay, including a close-up look at the Malaspina Glacier and Guyot Glacier, all set against Mount St. Elias in Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve. This tight bay is surrounded by several glaciers, offering opportunities for hiking, beachcombing, and glacier observation.

Day 8: Disenchantment Bay Glaciers

Disenchantment Bay presents a dynamic glacial landscape, including the impressive Hubbard Glacier, which occasionally blocks Russell Fjord. Witness the power of a glacier actively reshaping the land as you enjoy a day of exploration and glacier calving. The team may adjust activities based on conditions to ensure safe and comfortable access.

Day 9: Yakutat Town

Yakutat is known for its vibrant fishing culture and remote charm. You can have the opportunity to explore the town on walking tours, meet locals, and enjoy optional activities like enjoying world-renowned fishing at an additional cost. This stop allows for a more intimate connection with Alaskan life between the wild coast and dense rainforests.

Day 10-11: Lituya Bay

Lituya Bay is a legendary destination among mariners, known for its dramatic history, including the 1958 mega tsunami. It’s a fair-weather stop due to challenging entrance conditions, but if the weather and tides align, the experience is unforgettable. You can explore Cenotaph Island, home to black-legged kittiwake colonies and sea lion haul-outs. Enjoy hiking and take in the breathtaking views of the Fairweather Mountain Range. If needed, you have alternative options like Graves or Torch Bay, known for their calm waters and stunning scenery.

Day 12: George Island

Step ashore on George Island, home to a World War I-era cannon brought here during World War II. This remote spot offers a blend of history and nature, perfect for a final exploration stretch before heading toward Juneau. You may also explore nearby areas like Cape Spencer, which is known for its dramatic marine environment.

Day 13: Captain’s Choice or Wildlife Search

Today is all about flexibility, allowing the captain to select the best locations for wildlife viewing. This is a prime opportunity for whale watching in the Inian Islands and Icy Strait, where humpbacks and orcas are frequently sighted. The day's plan is adjusted to the best conditions to ensure you have a memorable experience.

Day 14: Juneau | Disembark

  • 1 Breakfast
Disembark in Juneau, where your adventure concludes. Reflect on the incredible landscapes, wildlife encounters, and rich history experienced along Alaska’s remote coastlines.
