This Fly/Sail expedition features the best of Antarctica across 11 days and allows for more exploration, with only one crossing of the Drake Passage. Get up close with tabular icebergs, vast colonies of Adelie and gentoo penguins, and dramatic volcanic landscapes in the ice-filled Weddell Sea. Discover the Antarctic Peninsula’s many islands, alive with leopard seals busy with courtship, bustling penguins, and whales!
Highlights
Visit the Adelie and gentoo penguin colonies of Brow Bluff
Zodiac through narrow straits and icebergs in the Antarctic Peninsula
Explore Fildes Bay's penguin and seal-rich waters & visit Trinity Church
Involves minimal physical effort and is typically associated with leisurely activities. Activities are low-intensity or last less than a few hours each day.
Fly from Punta Arenas to Puerto Williams and enjoy a tour of the scenic port before being warmly welcomed aboard the Polar Pioneer. Take part in an introductory and safety briefing before your evening’s cruise down the Beagle Channel.
Ease into shipboard life as you cross the Drake Passage. The naturalist and paleontologist expand your Antarctic knowledge and prepare you for landings. The outer decks and flying bridge provide excellent space to see and photograph wildlife.
Spend the next few days exploring the ice-filled Weddell Sea where weather systems and shifting pack ice dictate your schedule. Visit the large Adelie and gentoo penguin colonies of Brow Bluff, and fossil-rich Seymour Island. Hike to spectacular vantage points on Beak or Devil Islands, where large tabular icebergs and volcanic scenery create long-lasting memories.
The Antarctic Peninsula's western flanks offer long summer daylight and ice-free waters. Visit historic huts and Zodiac cruise through narrow straits and majestic icebergs and if you are lucky, cruise among whales. The landing points to visit are Half Moon Bay, Lemaire Channel, Hydrurga Rocks, and more!
Day 10: King George Island | Disembark | Punta Arenas
Arrive at mountainous King George Island. If time and weather permit, explore penguin and seal-rich waters of Fildes Bay and visit the surprising Trinity Church at Bellingshausen Station, before catching your charter flight back to Punta Arenas in Chile. Transfer to your overnight accommodation.

Our guide and driver were very good with their knowledge and were very helpful with our questions. It was a very pleasant visit that would have been impossible to do on our own. Hotels and restaurants were fantastic. The special places we got to go to, like the kitchens, were great. Enjoyed the entire trip!
