Day 1: Arrive in Ushuaia

No need to stress about missed connections or flight delays as you arrive with plenty of time to unwind and enjoy your beautiful hotel or spend time discovering the southernmost city in the world, Ushuaia.

Day 2: Ushuaia | Embark

Spend your morning exploring Ushuaia or unwinding at the resort until your mid-afternoon transfer to the ship. Your Expedition Team and ship staff greets you on board, followed by a safety and orientation briefing and Captain’s welcome dinner.

Day 3-4: Drake Passage

Join your Polar Experts as they teach you about everything Antarctic, from wildlife to history; participate in the renowned Citizen Science program; or sit back and take in this fabled journey while catching exciting glimpses of wildlife. Grab your binoculars to identify the many seabirds that follow the ship as you cross the Antarctic Convergence into Antarctic waters and noticeably cooler temperatures.

Day 5: South Shetland Islands

The volcanic South Shetland Islands offer amazing abundance and beauty, so hop into the inflatable Zodiac boats and spend as much time as possible exploring. Be prepared to marvel up close at nature’s glory!

Day 6-9: Antarctic Peninsula

It’s time to slow the ship down, explore the dreamlike world all around you and let the power of this amazing place sink in. This is your opportunity to get more intimately acquainted with Antarctica by Zodiac, kayak, snowshoe, or on a magical night of camping, as you look up at the stars or listen to the ethereal call of a nearby whale. For those engaged in the Citizen Science program, the work of understanding this fragile environment continues. Be sure to keep your camera handy, as penguins, seals and whale sightings are all part of this incredible experience. And a passing iceberg, its magical blue light seeming to glow from within, is something you’ll want to share with friends back home.

Day 10-11: Drake Passage

As you leave this magical place and make your way north, heading again across the Antarctic Convergence and the Drake Passage, continue your presentation series and wildlife spotting. Sailing back to Ushuaia through the Beagle Channel, celebrate the conclusion of your expedition with a special slideshow. 

Day 12: Ushuaia | Disembark

Morning disembarkation lets you catch a flight to Buenos Aires or stay in Ushuaia for more sights and adventure.

  • All passengers that travel with Polar Latitudes, the operator of your ship, are required to carry valid travel insurance. This insurance must contain medical and evacuation coverage and should include cancellation and trip interruption as well. As any potential evacuation from Antarctica can cost up to $150,000 no policy should carry less than this amount of coverage.
