Set sail on a 20-day cruise to the Falklands, South Georgia, and Antarctica from Punta Arenas to Ushuaia aboard the Magellan Explorer. Visit Saunders and West Point Islands, where you can see nesting albatross, and rockhopper penguins, and experience a traditional Falklands tea. Stroll through historic Port Stanley or explore Gipsy Cove. Cruise to South Georgia to witness thousands of king penguins at St. Andrews Bay and visit Ernest Shackleton’s grave in Grytviken. Zodiac cruise past towering icebergs at Elsehul Bay, Cooper Bay, and Prion Island, home to wandering albatross. Arrive at Elephant Island, where Shackleton’s crew endured harsh conditions. Finally, explore the Antarctic Peninsula and South Shetlands, visiting stunning locations such as Deception Island, Lemaire Channel, and Wilhelmina Bay.

Day 1: Punta Arenas | Embark

Starting at 10:00 hrs, head to Explorers House in Punta Arenas to experience Antarctica21's exclusive expedition center. At 15:00 hrs, join the group transfer to the port for embarkation. As the ship sails through the Strait of Magellan, the Expedition Team presents an engaging overview of the history behind this legendary sea route.

Day 2: At Sea

Relax and enjoy the ship’s hospitality en route to the Falkland Islands (Malvinas). An engaging series of lectures and presentations begins during the journey.

Day 3: Saunders Island | West Point Island

During a morning visit to Saunders Island, you enjoy the long white-sand beach. During this wilderness experience, the main attractions are observing rockhopper penguins, nesting black-browed albatross, and sub-Antarctic gentoo penguins. In the afternoon, you visit West Point Island. There is an option for an easy hike to the settlement, bird watching, and a typical Falklands tea experience.

Day 4: Port Stanley

Join the expedition team on guided walking tours of Port Stanley or explore on your own and absorb the atmosphere of this isolated outpost in the South Atlantic.

Day 5-6: At Sea

Day 7: Elsehul Bay

Evening Zodiac cruise at Elsehul Bay, subject to crossing and permits from the South Georgia government.

Day 8: Salisbury Plain | Possession Bay

Morning visit to Salisbury Plain to observe king penguins and stunning landscapes. In the afternoon, aim to do a zodiac cruise in the stunning Possesion Bay or to visit the nearby areas.

Day 9: Grytviken | Fortuna Bay / Stromness

Morning landing at Grytviken, where you complete customs formalities before visiting the historic site, which includes a museum and Ernest Shackleton's grave. In the afternoon, you plan for a landing at Fortuna Bay / Stromness, encounter king penguins and learn more about Shackleton and his expedition. There is an optional 2-3 hour “Shackleton walk” if snow and weather conditions allows.

Day 10: St. Andrews Bay | Drygalsky Fjord

In the morning, you visit St. Andrews Bay, home to one of the largest king penguin colonies and impressive elephant seal bulls. If weather allows, a ship cruise across the Dryglasky Fjord in the afternoon.

Day 11-12: At Sea

Day 13: Elephant Island

In the afternoon, you explore Elephant Island. While a landing here is unlikely, you see the island from the ship or, if sea conditions allow, from a Zodiac.

Day 14-17: Antarctic Peninsula & South Shetland Islands

Cruise along the Antarctic Peninsula and among the South Shetland Islands, visiting sites in the Antarctic Sound and the Gerlache Strait. The voyage may include visits to sites such as Gourdin Island, Brown Bluff, Half Moon Island, Deception Island, Wilhelmina Bay, the Lemaire Channel, Cuverville Island, the Melchior Islands, or other magnificent places.

Day 18-19: At Sea
