Day 3: Moyo Island, Indonesia

Just inland from Probolinggo, discover the striking landscapes of Mount Bromo, an active volcano rising dramatically from an ethereal sea of sand within Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. Embark on a Jeep expedition across this otherworldly landscape where a smoldering, mist-shrouded volcanic desert borders undulating forested hills. The Luhur Poten Temple at the volcano’s base honors the site as not only a remarkable natural wonder but also a spiritual center Discover a hidden gem of the West Nusa Tenggara province in the secluded wilderness of Moyo Island, much of which is protected by a nature reserve. Venture deep into the island’s forested interior to discover hidden waterfalls, including the multitiered cascades of Mata Jitu. Emerald waters gather in natural limestone pools, inviting you to relax in a pristine, tranquil setting. Beyond the verdant canopy, the surrounding marine park invites exploration beneath the crystal-clear surface. Swim along the colorful coral reefs for world-class snorkeling or diving encounters with the fascinating sea life that thrives in this protected sanctuary.

Day 4: Makassar (Sulawesi), Indonesia

In this gateway to Eastern Indonesia, a rich maritime legacy intertwines with modern urban energy. Wander through the storied walls of Fort Rotterdam, an impeccably preserved emblem of Dutch colonial heritage. Just a short journey away, the bustling Paotere Harbor invites you to marvel at the traditional pinisi schooners still sailing these ancient trade routes. Bask in the lively spirit along Losari Beach, where sunset strolls and local treats invite you to linger at the water’s edge. For those drawn to nature’s rarities, a visit to Bantimurung-Bulusaraung National Park reveals lush caverns, shimmering waterfalls and a kaleidoscope of butterflies that create an enchanting tableau of color and movement. Deepen your cultural immersion by savoring authentic culinary treasures, including the richly spiced broth of Coto Makassar.

Day 5: Makassar Strait Scenic Navigation

Gliding through the Makassar Strait offers a mesmerizing transition between the Celebes Sea and Java Sea, as deep blue waters are framed by the rugged silhouettes of the islands of Borneo and Sulawesi. These nutrient-rich currents sustain incredible marine biodiversity below the surface, and watching from above offers the chance to spot spinner dolphins performing their acrobatic leaps or majestic sperm whales fluking as they dive deep into the sea. Please note: Navigation times may change at the Captain’s discretion.

Day 6: Derawan Islands, Indonesia

Embrace the spirit of adventure, as you never know where the day may take you in the Derawan Islands, a remote Indonesian archipelago off the eastern coast of Borneo in the Celebes Sea. In a landlocked marine lake on Kakaban Island, you can swim with thousands of harmless, stingless jellyfish that create an otherworldly tableau. The waters surrounding Maratua and Sangalaki offer world-class snorkeling and diving in thriving ecosystems that support majestic green sea turtles, graceful manta rays and a host of colorful fish. These tropical isles may also present the opportunity to kayak or snorkel from the yacht’s marina platform or go island-hopping in one of the yacht’s luxury motorboats in search of the perfect stretch of pristine sands.

Day 7: Bohey Dulang Island, Malaysia

Set sail for the dramatic volcanic isle of Bohey Dulang, a stunning jewel nestled within Malaysia’s Tun Sakaran Marine Park. This island sanctuary invites travelers to embark on a challenging yet deeply rewarding hike to its 353-meter peak. Reaching the summit reveals astonishing panoramic views of a flooded ancient crater now transformed into a vast turquoise lagoon. Descend to the pristine waters to explore a giant clam nursery, a testament to the region’s ecological commitment, or embark on a Zodiac expedition along the lagoon with views of soaring volcanic cliffs. Afterward, slip into the crystal-clear waters to snorkel among vibrant coral reefs teeming with exotic marine life.

Day 8: Sandakan (Borneo), Malaysia

Step into the wild heart of Borneo at Sandakan, a Malaysian gateway to untamed nature and profound history. Embark on an expedition to the renowned Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Center to witness magnificent primates swinging through the dense emerald canopy. Nearby, cruise along the meandering Kinabatangan River for a chance to spot the island’s proboscis monkeys, their distinctive noses and playful antics a true natural marvel. Just moments away, the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Center offers a rare, intimate glimpse into the lives of the world’s smallest bears. Deepen your cultural immersion at the poignant Sandakan Memorial Park, a moving tribute to the prisoners of war who perished here during World War II. Ascend to the ornate Buddhist temple of Puu Jih Shih for another moment of reflection overlooking panoramic vistas of the Sulu Sea.

Day 9-10: Puerto Princesa (Palawan), Philippines

Discover a pristine coastal sanctuary in the Philippines where untamed natural beauty reigns supreme. Seize the rare opportunity to navigate the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Expert guides lead you through awe-inspiring limestone caves shrouded by a dense, biodiverse rainforest teeming with wildlife. You might also go ziplining over the valley or spelunking in the caves of the massive limestone formation of Udong Rock. Beyond these subterranean marvels, unwind on the idyllic, sun-drenched shores of Honda Bay, or take a cruise through the mangroves of the Iwahig River, where fireflies create a magical glow after dark. History buffs also have plenty of options, from the 18th-century cathedral where the city’s first mass was held to the fascinating World War II museum to the unique local prison where unconfined inmates farm the land.

Day 11: El Nido (Palawan), Philippines

Surrounded by the Bacuit Archipelago, El Nido is a jumping off point for island-hopping through some of the most stunning scenery in the Philippines. Towering limestone islets soar above luminescent turquoise waters, concealing secret worlds untouched by time. Kayak the emerald passages of the renowned Big Lagoon and Small Lagoon, and snorkel in crystal-clear waters where a kaleidoscope of marine life thrives just below the surface. Relish moments of quiet indulgence on the secluded white-sand coves of Seven Commandos Beach or Shimizu Island. Surrender to the allure of this untouched ecological wonder — a destination whose natural majesty linger in your memory long after your journey ends.

Day 12: Boracay, Philippines

Fringed by swaying palms and lapped by the gentle Sulu Sea, the tropical island of Boracay invites you to sink your toes into the powdery white sands of aptly named White Beach — or one of many others. Take a swim in the brilliant blue waters or indulge in a massage on the beachfront or at a nearby spa. For a truly authentic immersion, catch the ocean breeze while sailing aboard a traditional outrigger sailboat called a paraw, gliding effortlessly along the picturesque coastline. Beneath the shimmering surface, snorkelers find an untouched ecological wonderland teeming with vibrant coral reefs and exotic marine life. You might also leap into the waters from the cliffside platforms of Ariel’s Point or play a round of golf on a championship course overlooking these sapphire seas.

Day 13: Corregidor Island | Manila, Philippines

Steeped in profound history reclaimed by the tropical jungle, the island of Corregidor stands as a powerful monument to human resilience. Once an impenetrable World War II fortress guarding Manila Bay, this evocative destination invites your discovery of its storied past. Navigate the labyrinthine depths of the famed Malinta Tunnel, where echoes of bravery linger in the shadows. Pay your respects at the poignant Pacific War Memorial, and marvel at the massive coastal artillery batteries that still command the dramatic shoreline. Visit the serene Japanese Peace Garden, a symbol of reconciliation and remembrance that offers a tranquil space amid the island’s historic landmarks. As you explore these solemn ruins harmoniously intertwined with untamed nature, Corregidor reveals its layered history and enduring significance.

In the dynamic capital of Manila, centuries of history meet a lively modern metropolis. Journey into the authentic heart of the Philippines within the historic walled city of Intramuros. Cobblestone streets invite you to explore exquisite Spanish colonial architecture, the storied ramparts of the 16th-century Fort Santiago and the UNESCO-listed San Agustin Church, renowned for its Baroque beauty. On the adjacent grounds of Rizal Park, discover the nation’s fine arts, natural history and more in the National Museum Complex. Other fascinating collections include the dioramas of the Ayala Museum and the hundreds of pairs of Imelda Marcos’ footwear on display in the Marikina Shoe Museum. Be sure to check out the culinary scene and try the savory adobo stew, roasted pork and stir-fried noodles.

Beyond expectations! Then again we weren't sure what to expect. Lovely stay at the lodge, met other like-minded travelers (many had their trips planned by Adventure Life) and the owner was a gracious hostess. It felt like you were one happy family, visiting with a favorite aunt.
