Hidden amongst a veritable treasure trove of tropical plants, grasses, huge trees and spectacular orchids in bloom, the quaint bungalows of the Sepilok Nature Resort are within walking distance of the world-famous Kabili-Sepilok Forest Reserve, precious home of the last wild Orang-Utans of Northern Borneo. Combining rich traditional style with contemporary luxury, Sepilok Nature Resort is the ideal starting point for most other wildlife land destinations in Sabah such as the fauna rich Kinabatangan River and the surrounding Sukau area. Sepilok Nature Resort also offers the perfect setting for relaxing after a long plane trip, before continuing on a diving holiday to Lankayan.

Rooms
Standard Room
37 m² - Fitted with wooden furnishings, each room is equipped with air conditioning, a TV and a balcony with views of the natural surroundings. The en suite bathroom offers shower facilities.
To fully appreciate the ancient rhythms of the forest, the best thing one could do is to stay at least a few days in Sepilok Nature Resort, a most beautiful compound bordering on the protected area (it is actually not uncommon to have Orang Utans or pythons wandering around among the chalets) and perfectly integrated with the surrounding forest. Set in a spectacularly landscaped private area of manicured lawns and rolling hills, the fully air- conditioned (and very comfortable) twin bed chalets feature beautiful lake or jungle view verandahs and private bathrooms with hot water; the surrounding garden – which would take half a day to explore – offers and amazing array of tropical plants and grasses and a collection of more than one hundred and fifty different Asian orchid species. Front office, tour information desk and restaurant are all integrated in the resort main building built with charming traditional wooden interior reflecting a truly tranquil setting, overlooking the green shimmering curtain of lowland tropical rainforest canopies with some formations reaching almost 80 to 120 feet. A view of the beautiful natural lake at the heart of the resort is a sight not to be missed. Guest can enjoy a sumptuous meals cooked by our chef with a fusion of local and western cuisines served in the central building under cove rd terraces in a serene setting overlooking the lake and virgin rainforest. The Orang-Utan Rehabilitation Center (where young captive or abandoned Orang Utans are being helped by a highly trained and motivated staff to re-adjust to a life in the wild, and where a Sumatran rhino breeding program is in progress) and the actual Sepilok Forest Reserve are just a few minutes’ walk away, and the Resort staff are happy to organize birding, trekking and river trips to the neighboring areas (including the fauna rich Sukau area along the Kinabatangan river and Turtle Island off North of Sandakan.
Dining in Sepilok brings you double pleasure. You get to feast your stomach with sumptuous meals and at the same time feast your eyes with view of the lake and the beautiful rainforest as the backdrop. At night during dinner, instead of being serenaded with violins or acoustic guitar, you’ll be serenaded with sounds of nocturnal creatures and insects of all kinds.
The trip was terrific with great planning on your part. Most of the adventures were not mainstream and somewhat off the beaten path which made it especially enjoyable!! We felt taken care of and you all were readily available to respond to questions and issues. I would highly recommend your company and friends have already expressed interest based on our pictures and excitement.

The holiday of a lifetime. The company is Alaksa-owned and thhat makes a big difference to the experineces you get i.e. meet genuine First Nations tribes people. The amount of wildlife was beyond my expectation, and seeing everything on sucha small, intimate boat made it even more spoecial and unique.

It was an outstanding, up-close, educational vacation of nature, culture, history, animals and geology! It was everything they promised! Binoculars were plentiful on the boat, but I'm glad I brought my own. Food was excellent. Rooms had black-out shades. Pack/wear multiple layers of clothing (I carried a small backpack when off the ship). Crew were delightful and very accommodating! Remember to jump FEET FIRST first when taking the optional polar plunge! Spend as much time outdoors as you are able and ENJOY!!!

Excellent travel advice and service
This is my second experience working with Adventure Life. I’m sold. Jess Heuermann is an experienced traveler and provides a lot of useful information when planning a trip. These are the questions I like to ask at the outset - What’s it like to go here, there, what would you suggest, what do people report, can we add any additional side trips? Jess took the time to answer my questions and seek additional information to share with me. Petchie Colina is outstanding in helping with travel logistics and final preparations. Adventure Life has excellent guides and offers private guides and small group adventures. We enjoyed the opportunity to talk with the guides and drivers to learn more about their countries, cultures and histories. A highlight was having the guides pick local restaurants where we could share meals together. Highly recommend.

Our six-day tour in Iceland went smoothly with one exception. We had asked for two rooms each night. Somehow we were booked with one room with three beds. It could not be fixed at the first hotel in Reykjavik because the hotel was fully booked. Once informed of the problem, however, Adventure Life rebooked for two rooms for the remainder of the trip. As an 85-year-old traveler, I appreciated that one could participate at different physical levels at many of the stops. Iceland is a great place to visit but on the expensive side.
