It is a city full of contrasts.
Optional Activity:
Experience authentic Greek cuisine at a local restaurant.
This morning enjoy a city tour of Athens. On this privately guided tour, your expert guide will reveal the secrets of the Acropolis & the Parthenon, the Temple of Zeus, Hadrian’s Arch, and the Kallimarmaro Stadium, built of marble for the first modern Olympic Games in 1896. Enjoy the ancient wonders and explore the birthplace of democracy. Twist and turn through the Plaka’s narrow streets and find ancient sites, cafes, and shops full of history and character.
Optional Afternoon Activity to Add:
Visit the south coastal suburbs of Athens (Glyfada and Vouliagmeni) which offer very good dining options and a lively nigh life scene.
Today, your private tour will begin with a scenic drive via the coastal road from Athens towards the Corinth Canal. It will take about an hour to get to Corinth and cross the bridge that connects the mainland with the Peloponnese over the narrow canal.
After a brief stop, continue towards Mycenae, one of the most important cities of ancient Greece. You will walk under the famous Lion Gate up to the Mycenaean Acropolis and the Palace. Continue to the tomb of Agamemnon and the ruins of the Cyclopean walls that protected this mighty city. After Mycenae, set off to Epidaurus.
The site of Epidaurus, which is listed as a world heritage site by Unesco, is vast. With ruins of temples and hospital buildings devoted to the healing gods, it is considered to be the birthplace of Asklepios, the ancient Greek God of Medicine. The monuments, particularly the temple of Asklepios, the Tholos, and the Theatre, are considered some of the purest masterpieces of Greek architecture and date from the 4th century BC. For most travelers, Epidaurus is known for the magnificent theater that still stands there and is still used for plays and other performances. The theater's acoustics are unmatched even by modern standards, and it was considered an engineering marvel. Walk down the site's pine-lined path toward the exit after seeing the Epidaurus Theater.
One of the tour's highlights is a stop in Nafplio, one of Greece's most historic and picturesque port cities. In the late afternoon, head back to Athens.

Our guide and driver were very good with their knowledge and were very helpful with our questions. It was a very pleasant visit that would have been impossible to do on our own. Hotels and restaurants were fantastic. The special places we got to go to, like the kitchens, were great. Enjoyed the entire trip!

The amount of wildlife was beyond my expectation, and seeing everything on sucha small, intimate boat made it even more spoecial and unique.

It was an outstanding, up-close, educational vacation of nature, culture, history, animals and geology! It was everything they promised! Binoculars were plentiful on the boat, but I'm glad I brought my own. Food was excellent. Rooms had black-out shades. Pack/wear multiple layers of clothing (I carried a small backpack when off the ship). Crew were delightful and very accommodating! Remember to jump FEET FIRST first when taking the optional polar plunge! Spend as much time outdoors as you are able and ENJOY!!!

Excellent travel advice and service
This is my second experience working with Adventure Life. I’m sold. Jess Heuermann is an experienced traveler and provides a lot of useful information when planning a trip. These are the questions I like to ask at the outset - What’s it like to go here, there, what would you suggest, what do people report, can we add any additional side trips? Jess took the time to answer my questions and seek additional information to share with me. Petchie Colina is outstanding in helping with travel logistics and final preparations. Adventure Life has excellent guides and offers private guides and small group adventures. We enjoyed the opportunity to talk with the guides and drivers to learn more about their countries, cultures and histories. A highlight was having the guides pick local restaurants where we could share meals together. Highly recommend.

Our six-day tour in Iceland went smoothly with one exception. We had asked for two rooms each night. Somehow we were booked with one room with three beds. It could not be fixed at the first hotel in Reykjavik because the hotel was fully booked. Once informed of the problem, however, Adventure Life rebooked for two rooms for the remainder of the trip. As an 85-year-old traveler, I appreciated that one could participate at different physical levels at many of the stops. Iceland is a great place to visit but on the expensive side.
