Day 1: Darwin | Embark

Arrive at Darwin Fort Hill Wharf at 6:30 a.m. for embarkation. Use the afternoon to explore the available facilities and settle in. Meet other travelers during the Captain’s Welcome drinks, followed by dinner. This itinerary covers remote regions and is flexible. The Expedition Team adjusts activities as needed to provide the best possible experience.

Day 2-14: Exploration

At Sea
Spend the day at sea. Join presentations from Guest Lecturers, or take part in an engine room or bridge visit to learn more about daily operations.

Tablolong Bay, West Timor
Arrive at Tablolong Bay and hear the distinct tones of the traditional Sasando instrument during a beachside performance. Afterward, take time for a swim in the clear water.

Alor Island, Indonesia
Explore Alor Island, home to about 140,000 people who speak more than 50 languages. Visit the open-air Kadelang Market, the 1000 Moko Drums Museum, and a village where you are welcomed with local traditions. Watch the Lego Lego dance in an Abui tribe village as women dressed in woven fabrics and bronze ornaments move in rhythm to gongs and Moko drums.

Lamalera Village, Indonesia
Step into one of the last traditional whaling communities. Learn how ancient hunting practices sustain this remote village and see cultural performances. Observe hunting techniques, watch Ikat weaving demonstrations, and purchase textiles directly from local artisans.

Ende, Indonesia
From Ende, travel by road toward the volcanic lakes of Kelimutu. Stop for morning tea with the Sisters of the Saint Francis Order to hear about their community work. Continue to the striking three-colored crater lakes, then have lunch at Kelimutu Eco Lodge with Flores music. Walk from the Kelimutu headquarters to a viewpoint before a regional meal at an eco-resort.

Padar Island, Indonesia
Take on a 4-kilometer hike to Padar’s summit for wide views of mountains, beaches, and open seas. Choose to explore by small boat instead or snorkel and dive in the surrounding waters.

Komodo Island & Pink Beach, Indonesia
Join local rangers for a guided walk to see Komodo dragons and visit a nearby village. Hear legends tied to these reptiles and their role in island traditions. Later, walk the pink-tinted shoreline of Pink Beach, swim, or explore underwater with snorkeling or diving.

Jailamu Island, Indonesia
Spend time beachcombing, kayaking, swimming, snorkeling, or diving at Jailamu. Watch for sea turtles that nest on the island and learn about their life cycle from experts.

At Sea
Use a day at sea to rest or take part in onboard programs, including hands-on workshops and guest-led lectures, while traveling toward Palopo, gateway to Tana Toraja.

Tana Toraja, Indonesia
Journey inland to Sulawesi’s highlands to see Toraja’s landscapes and culture. Visit Tongkonan houses in Marante, view Tau-tau effigies and stone graves at Lemo, and see hanging burial sites in Bori Parinding. Explore the market and the historic village of Kete Kesu. Stay overnight in a local hotel with regional food, music, and dance.

Sogori, Indonesia
Visit Sogori, home to Bajau and Bugis communities. Meet villagers and learn about daily life. Walk along white sand beaches, and choose to swim, snorkel, or dive near nearby reefs and shipwrecks.

Tana Beru, Indonesia
See Phinisi shipbuilding traditions practiced since the 14th century. Watch Bugis craftsmen construct large wooden vessels without nails, hear stories of seafaring life, and step aboard a completed Phinisi to appreciate its size and design.
