Chilean Patagonia
We spent 18 days spent exploring the Lake District, Torres del Paine and Tierra del Fuego. Chile has a lot to offer from top to bottom and we just scratched the surface in Patagonia while we were there. With boat rides that showed us all the glaciers and icebergs that Chile has to offer. I would love another opportunity to return and continue our …

Elusive Patagonia
Patagonia. How does one describe an area that is indescribable? It's a land of stark contrasts--jagged snow-capped mountains peaks, pristine lakes, and massive glaciers of mesmerizing beauty, but also a landscape of barren emptiness inhabited only by the incessant Patagonian wind. We called it ''Elusive Patagonia.'' After reading our journal and …

Santiago - Torres del Paine - El Calafate
My husband, Toby, and I had a wonderful adventure to the End of the World. I've written details about the random weather, the fauna of wildlife including penguins, specific tours like hiking and camping and what to expect when traveling to Patagonia (Hint: expect NOTHING!).

Exploring Chile from South to North
We discovered the great rich variety Chile has to offer from end to end. We began in the Fjords of Patagonia and cruised along from glacier to glacier. We disembarked in Puerto Natales and relaxed at Remota Lodge for a few days. Our private fly-fishing excursion was the highlight of our stay. We did a whirlwind tour through Torres del Paine …

Habitat para la Humanidad Chile

Patagonia and More
As with all good things, there must be ''burdens'' to overcome so that we truly appreciate the good things. After the delayed flight leaving Chicago and having to stay overnight in Miami, finally am airborne and on my way to Buenos Aires, three hours AFTER I was supposed to have arrived! Oh well, such is life. It turns out that there was an …

Patagonia - To the end of the world and back
To the "end of the world" and back. My sister and I started the trip with a stay over in Buenos Aires before taking a flight to Ushuaia. Together we hiked and kayaked through Tierra del Fuego. We set foot on Cape Horn and an island inhabited only by penguins. Together, we sailed the Straits of Magellan; we learned about the history of …

Torres del Paine
Of all the excursions in Torres del Paine, don't miss out on the Grey Glacier! We celebrated with Pisco Sours complete with 10,000 year old glacial ice before taking the easy trip back to the lakeshore. With the winds at our backs, the journey was calm and we could enjoy the scenery out on deck. Even with the rains and wind during our trip, our …

Passport to Patagonia
What a breathtakingly beautiful area Patagonia is! It is a land of contrasts: with flat arid plains around Puerto Madryn and Peninsula Valdez and its penguin colonies and Estancias, to the awesome glaciers and otherworldly rock formations of El Calafate near the central western border of Argentina. At its southernmost tip are the enormous craggy …

To Chile, Argentina and Back Again - The Trip of a Lifetime
I’ve spent years pouring through my share of Outside Magazines and National Geographics; watched hours of Discovery Channel Programs and marveled at the beauty of nature; heard the tales of many of my well-travelled friends as they detailed their harrowing and exciting adventures. But with all of this, at 30 years old, I had never been outside …
