Day 1 Punta Arenas | Fly to Puerto Williams | Embark

This morning fly from Punta Arenas to Puerto Williams. Enjoy lunch at a local lodge before a guided tour of the rustic port and beautiful surrounds. Embark Polar Pioneer in the late afternoon and set sail along the Beagle Channel.

Day 2-3 Drake Passage

  • Ship
  • 2 Breakfasts, 2 Lunches, 2 Dinners
Your Drake Passage crossing offers cape petrels darting about the ship, black-browed and wandering albatross soaring, and Wilson’s storm petrels flitting above the sea. Learn about Antarctica from your expert naturalist and safety and environmental guidelines from your expedition team as you prepare for your first landing, possibly late on Day 3.

Day 4-9 Antarctic Peninsula

  • Ship
  • 6 Breakfasts, 6 Lunches, 6 Dinners
Cruise along Gerlache Strait and reach the stunning Antarctic Peninsula, an ethereal wonderland of vast proportions. Aboard Zodiacs, explore penguin rookeries, historic sites, and scientific stations, and cruise near exquisite icebergs. Kayakers paddle through narrow waterways in search of wildlife and serenity. Stepping ashore on the continent itself creates an everlasting memory, especially if it involves a bum-slide down a steep snow slope! Immerse yourself in nature, spontaneity and having fun, making sure to pause and celebrate as you bring in the New Year.

Your expedition team makes the most of every day and a fair bit of each night as well. If the weather allows, join a sleep-out on the ice – a must for any Antarctic explorer!

Day 10 King George Island | Disembark | Fly to Punta Arenas

  • Hotels
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Arrive at mountainous King George Island, the largest of the South Shetlands. Time and weather permitting, explore Fildes Bay and visit the Russian Orthodox Trinity Church at Bellingshausen Station, before catching your charter flight back to Punta Arenas in Chile and transferring to your hotel.

Day 11 Punta Arenas

Beyond expectations! Then again we weren't sure what to expect. Lovely stay at the lodge, met other like-minded travelers (many had their trips planned by Adventure Life) and the owner was a gracious hostess. It felt like you were one happy family, visiting with a favorite aunt.
