Involves minimal physical effort and is typically associated with leisurely activities. Activities are low-intensity or last less than a few hours each day.
After checking in to your accommodation, spend the afternoon at The Rainforest Discovery Centre (RDC) located near the lodge. Here, explore some of the trails and visit the excellent canopy walkway for wildlife and bird watching. At dusk, giant red flying squirrels emerge from their tree dens and can be seen gliding between the trees. Bring a torchlight because you will be walking back in the dark.
After breakfast and check-out, visit the Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre for a morning feeding, followed by a visit to the Sunbear Center next door. Early noon departs from Sepilok to the Kinabatangan floodplain for the 2-hour journey. Upon arrival, take a short boat transfer to the Kinabatangan lodge. Check in, settle in and enjoy lunch. Then, spend some time relaxing before embarking on a river cruise in search of wildlife. Return to the lodge before sunset, and enjoy dinner shortly after. After dinner, relax or go on an optional night walk or cruise (add-on activities at your own expense).
Wake up to the melodic sounds of the rainforest. At 6:00 in the morning, cruise up the Kinabatangan River and onto Kelenanap Ox-Bow Lake. The river is home to incredible fauna, including orangutans, probosci monkeys, silver leaf langurs, pygmy elephants, and more.
Take a short jungle walk before returning to the lodge for breakfast. Spend some time exploring the lodge grounds. It is always important to bring your camera and binoculars ready, as wildlife can be seen on the lodge property. In the afternoon, it is followed by another river cruise to search for wildlife. After dinner, relax or take an optional night walk or cruise (add-on activities at your own expense).
After an early breakfast, check out and take a boat back to Sukau Jetty, then continue for another 4 hours overland transfer to Danum Valley. The last 1.5 hours are on a dirt road, and wildlife can be spotted along this drive. Register at the welcome center upon arrival and receive a briefing from DVFC staff. Meet your guide and enjoy lunch. After lunch, chat with your guide to plan your days at DVFC. Relax before going on an afternoon walk in the area as an introduction to the Danum Valley. The area surrounding the center teems with wildlife, and it is not unusual for you to spot resident orangutans, hornbills, etc. Return to the center before sundown and enjoy dinner at 7:00 PM. After dinner, go on an included night walk with your guide or arrange for an optional 4×4 night drive (additional activity at your own expense).
Wake up early for an early morning trek with your guide at 6:00 AM to see the forest come to life. Return to the center for breakfast and embark on a trail in the area if you wish. Spend the late morning resting before lunch. After lunch, take a dip at the Ulu Segama river before heading off for another trek – there are various types of trails, and your guide can discuss this with you. Return to the center in the late afternoon in time to watch the sky change color as the sun sets. After dinner, go on an included night walk with your guide or arrange for an optional 4×4 night drive (additional activity at your own expense).

Good to ideal period to travel, and many people choose to visit at this time.
We are so glad that we chose Adventure Life. The service is top-notch. Everything is well taken care of and we just have to print the documents and go. Franny even gave us timely updates on possible airport strike.

The trip was not only memorable for the amount of animals we saw but also for the people and accommodations at the two camps where we stayed. Our first guide, BK, was a wealth of information about the animals, landscape and down to the plants and what they were used for. Everyday out was a learning experience with him. All the people at the camps were gracious and the food was excellent.
Our second camp in the Okavanga was just as good as the first as far as the staff, accommodations, food and animals. After our experience at the first camp we amazed that the high quality remained the same. Our guide, G, made sure we were able to enjoy every experience including a rush through the bush to witness a cheetah and an ensuing hunt that he heard over his radio.
In both camps there were enough guides out that if they saw something the other guides were informed which helped in seeing as much as possible. It was also nice that the concessions were large enough that we did not have vehicles following each other throughout the day.
Normally there is always something in a trip of this length that we think could be improved upon but this is the rare case where we cannot think of anything. From the time we left the States to when we returned it was one of the most hassle free vacations we took.
Perhaps emphasizing the use of the laundry facilities at the camps would be useful because of the luggage restrictions would be the only thing I can think of as an improvement to future clients.
