Day 1: Piraeus (Port of Athens), Greece | Embark

As you stroll through the ancient Agora beneath the towering shadow of the Acropolis, imagine hearing the spirited voices of Plato, Socrates, and Aristotle fiercely debating the title of the greatest philosopher. Universally recognized as the birthplace of democracy and the true epicenter of Western civilization, Athens stands out as a city of eternal significance. When arranging your travel logistics, note that Piraeus functions as the primary port for this historic destination, situated exactly 15 kilometers from the city center and 45 kilometers from the airport.

Day 2: Milos, Adamas, Greece

As you explore Milos, a true gem of the Cyclades Islands, marvel at the striking volcanic landscapes and vibrantly colored cliffs. Here, over 70 unique beaches await your discovery, each boasting pristine, crystal-clear waters. Begin your journey in Adamas, the island's main port nestled within a sweeping natural bay. In this bustling harbor town, step into inviting tavernas to sample delicious local delicacies while listening to the gentle hum of fishing boats bobbing on the turquoise sea.

Venture further inland to uncover even more hidden gems. Wander through the otherworldly terrain of Sarakiniko Bay, navigate the narrow streets of Plaka for breathtaking elevated views, and photograph the vibrant fishermen's village of Klima, famous for its distinctive syrmata houses. Ultimately, Adamas serves as both a perfect gateway and a serene retreat right in the heart of the Cyclades.

Day 3: Chania, Crete, Greece

At the heart of Crete’s western coast, Chania blends history and daily life with quiet charm. Its Venetian harbor, with the lighthouse at its edge, is a gathering place where the sea reflects the colors of old façades. Lose yourself in narrow alleys filled with the scent of jasmine, taste meze in a shaded courtyard, and watch the afternoon light soften the walls of ancient houses. Beyond the city, olive groves and rugged hills reveal Crete’s natural beauty and proud traditions. Whether savoring local meze and wine by the water or simply soaking in the warm island atmosphere, Chania offers a truly unforgettable Cretan experience.

Day 4: Gythio, Greece

Located in the Peloponnese region of Greece, Gythio is a charming coastal town known for its beautiful beaches and vibrant harbor. It offers a mix of traditional Greek culture and modern amenities, with picturesque streets lined with neoclassical buildings. Visitors can enjoy fresh seafood at waterfront tavernas and explore nearby ancient sites like the ruins of Sparta. The scenic views and relaxed atmosphere make it an ideal destination for a coastal getaway.

Day 5: Katakolon, Greece

A charming port town on Greece's Peloponnese peninsula, Katakolon serves as a gateway to the ancient site of Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic Games. Passengers can explore the ancient ruins with the optional tour. Katakolon itself offers a picturesque waterfront lined with shops and cafes, providing a relaxing prelude or conclusion to the historical exploration of Olympia.

Day 6: Saranda, Albania

Set on a sun-drenched bay overlooking the Ionian Sea, just opposite the island of Corfu, Saranda is Albania’s most elegant coastal resort — and a perfect gateway to two of the country’s greatest treasures. Passengers can enjoy the relaxed waterfront atmosphere or join optional excursions (available at an additional cost) to explore the UNESCO-listed ancient city of Butrint, rich in Greek and Roman ruins, or the beautifully preserved Ottoman town of Gjirokastër, famed for its stone houses and hilltop fortress. Albania boasts a rich and ancient history, yet remains one of Europe’s best-kept secrets. Whether discovering history or simply soaking up the Adriatic sun, Saranda offers a captivating blend of culture, scenery, and Mediterranean charm.

Day 7: At Sea

Each Star Clippers ship offers a traditional and elegant way to see the world. Feel the wind fill the sails and gently carry you from one gorgeous destination to the next. During your time on board, you can choose to relax on a sun lounger or cool off in one of the pools on the top deck, while more adventurous passengers may enjoy the opportunity to climb the rigging or even have a go at steering the ship. Alternatively, you can wander the interior areas of the ship and discover relaxing lounges, and a peaceful library.

Day 8: Kotor, Montenegro

This stunning rock-walled chasm splitting the coastal mountains of Montenegro is the longest arm of the sea in southern Europe. Boka harbors one of the prettiest, unspoiled towns you can see, the medieval city of Kotor. Founded by the Romans, fortified during the Byzantine era, then ruled by Venice for much of its history, Kotor has been naturally preserved by its isolation.

Day 9: Hvar, Croatia

The heavenly scent of lavender perfumes the air in the fields and valleys around the island of Hvar. Idyllically located just off the Dalmatian Coast, the island and the little port named after it have been a favorite getaway ever since the time of the Romans, the Byzantines, the Venetians and even Austro-Hungarian royalty.

Day 10: Sibenik, Croatia

Šibenik, Croatia, is a charming coastal town on the Adriatic Sea known for its rich history and stunning architecture. The town is home to the UNESCO-listed St. James Cathedral, a masterpiece of Renaissance art. With its narrow, winding streets and views of the sea, Šibenik offers a blend of medieval charm and beautiful coastal scenery, making it a popular destination in Croatia.

Day 11: Cres, Croatia

Cres, situated in the Adriatic Sea, is Croatia's largest island. With its unspoilt landscapes, picturesque villages and secluded coves, Cres offers striking contrasts for a tranquil getaway in unspoilt natural surroundings.

Day 12: Venice, Italy | Disembark

  • 1 Breakfast
Venice is the heart and soul of romance. Cast your eye on the rounded domes of San Marco, take a deep breath at the Bridge of Sighs, gaze on the golden lions and the Renaissance glories of the Doge's Palace, listen for the ghosts of Verdi, Puccini and Caruso at La Fenice Opera House, gape at the classic Palladian proportions of the Church of San Giorgio Maggiore, glide in a gondola down the Grand Canal. And know that love is always in the air in Venice.

Disembark after breakfast and continue your independent trip back home.

This was my first experience with Adventure Life - and I couldn't have been more pleased with the trip. The guides and local staff in both Buenos Aires and Uruguay were terrific - extremely helpful and accommodating. I really enjoyed meeting the friendly staff in Buenos Aires in person (I left my bags with them for the afternoon).
