Inspired perhaps by the bordellos of yesteryear, this cozy and alluring property might be the most enticing little inn in all of Mexico. The Copper Canyon Riverside Lodge is located just off the main square in Batopilas village at the bottom of Batopilas Canyon.

The Riverside Lodge falls under the specialty hotel category and is a boutique-style hotel. The hotel is really a grand casa set back in time with all the history and nooks and crannies to explore. Once a privately owned home, it was converted to a hotel back in the early 90's and covers an entire block.
The trip might have been the absolute best of our lifetime (thus far). We particularly want to commend our guide Peter in the Guilin area-he was so incredibly attentive, energetic, enthusiastic-and absolutely dedicated to ensuring that our meals were 100% vegetarian.
