Today you’ll explore the Tulum Archaeological Site on our premium tour of one of the best-preserved coastal Mayan cities. You will travel about 80 miles south of Cancún to this well-known destination known for its spiritual history. Tulum is protected on one side by four-story cliffs and on the other by a 12-foot wall. The ruins sit along the east coast of the Yucatán Peninsula overlooking the glittering Caribbean Sea.
Another day on the Ocean – a day to rise with the sun and meet with friends in the restaurant of your choosing over breakfast...or sleep in and order room service. Gather in the Compass Lounge for snacks and games...or take in the view from the deck with your favorite cocktail in hand. This day is yours to craft as you desire
The colors of the rainbow adorn this fortified city on the Yucatán Peninsula’s western edge, in the restored façades of the historic buildings lining this UNESCO World Heritage Site’s cobblestone streets. Today, you will enjoy an included trolly tour of the city with stops at cultural hotspots: Puerta de Tierra, El Palacio de Centro Cultural and the Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Cathedral. And in the evening, you’ll be astounded by an exclusive 45-min authentic Folkloric Show and performance at the city’s historic theatre, Francisco de Paula Toro.
The second day of Campeche exploration presents a completely new experience. Your included tour will provide the chance to delve into the Spanish military architecture of the city at Fort San Miguel. An optical performance comes to life in a fountain show. And you can spend some time finding your piece of the city to bring home during your Tukulna shopping experience. For a more in depth experience, guests may choose the optional premium experience to Edzna, a Mayan civilization that has been preserved to give visitors the opportunity to explore and learn.
Progreso was founded by Don Juan Miguel Castro in 1872. The port was originally developed to export henequen. It started welcoming cruise ships a few years ago and boasts the world’s longest pier: 4 miles. A mixture of white-sand beaches and clear, calm waters make it a popular warm-weather resort. Historic colonial buildings, a bustling marketplace, and lush mangroves are appealing to most visitors. The increase in international tourists is slowly transforming the city, but if you seek a taste of “authentic” Mexico, Progreso will not disappoint. More than half of the Mexican people live in the center of the country, whereas vast areas of the arid north and the tropical south are sparsely settled. Nearly four-fifths of Mexicans live in urban areas. Mexico has experienced economic booms leading to social gains, followed by busts.
The country remains economically fragile despite forging stronger ties with the U.S. and Canada through the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) and NAFTA before it. Your included tour visits the Great Museum of the Mayan World in nearby Mérida to learn the civilization’s history, as well as Malecon de Progreso, a boardwalk filled with vendors, shops, and eateries. Optional premium excursions take you to the Uxmal Mayan ruins, where the Pyramid of the Magician was built atop pre-existing pyramids. Or a kayaking adventure to discover the ecosystem and the native wildlife that inhabit it.
Day 9: Valladolid | Disembark Cancun, Mexico - Hotel Stay
1 Breakfast
Venture into one of Mexico’s ancient Mayan ruins, Chichen Itza. Chichen Itza dates to 400-500 A.D., and its establishment in close proximity to a cenote helped the city to flourish. Explore the remnants of the city ruled by King Quetzalcoatl that attracts millions each year on a guided tour of the grounds. Here, a local expert will delve into the history behind the ruins and of course, the iconic pyramid structure — the Temple of Kukulkan.
Day 10: Cancún, Mexico | Home
This oasis offers not only majestic powder-white beaches, but also the history and legacy of the Mayans. Unwavering sunshine, aquatic activities and traditional Mexican ocean-to-table cuisine are keys to the rest and relaxation this port offers. Downtown travelers can indulge in world-class attractions, local flavors and fabulous excursions, while right outside its city center, surreal Caribbean beachlines and the remains of ancient civilizations enrich the experience. Cancun intertwines breathtaking natural wonders with innovations of humanity to create a vacation customizable to any adventurer.

Our guide and driver were very good with their knowledge and were very helpful with our questions. It was a very pleasant visit that would have been impossible to do on our own. Hotels and restaurants were fantastic. The special places we got to go to, like the kitchens, were great. Enjoyed the entire trip!
