Today you’ll explore the Tulum Archaeological Site on our premium tour of one of the best-preserved coastal Mayan cities. We will travel about 80 miles south of Cancún to this well-known destination known for its spiritual history. Tulum is protected on one side by four-story cliffs and on the other by a 12-foot wall. The ruins sit along the east coast of the Yucatán Peninsula overlooking the glittering Caribbean Sea.
Day 3: Scenic Sailing On The Caribbean Sea & Gulf Of Mexico
Azure skies watch waves absorb the sun as we set sail on the Caribbean Sea. Revel in the fetch of the gentle waves and another unhurried day of exploring the decks, taking in the view from different perspectives and sharing time with friends.
Traverse the city streets of Campeche on a guided trolley tour, where you will explore the city’s most intriguing highlights. Founded in 1540 by Spanish conquistadors, Campeche is surrounded by hills on the Yucatan Peninsula, overlooking the Bay of Campeche. As you explore the city, you will notice the historical monuments, cathedrals, cobblestone streets, and pastel-colored buildings that have made Campeche a celebrated destination. At Puerto De Tierra, get a glimpse of the remarkable walls constructed in the 17th century to guard the city against pirates and invaders.
Enjoy your second day of exploration in Campeche, a destination radiating rich history and culture. During your included tour, delve into the Spanish military architecture that the city is known for at Fort San Miguel. Experience historic treasures in a pristine landscape on a city tour of Mérida, Yucatán. History emanates from every structure in the city. Opulent buildings and cathedrals stand tall throughout town, keepsakes from the colonial era, but the building blocks of these structures date back even further — taken from the ancient Mayan temples from above which, the city was constructed. For a deep dive into the city’s heritage, you will visit El Gran Museo del Mundo Maya de Mérida. Here, you can explore the past and present cultural foundations of the Mayan world, through exhibits featuring ancient artifacts and modern digital displays.
HOTEL STAY & LAND TOUR - With our ship docked in the scenic port of Progreso, we travel by motorcoach to spend a night within walking distance of Chichén Itzá. This day includes a city tour of Valladolid, known for its colonial architecture and picturesque beauty — including gorgeous cenotes — Valladolid is a jewel of the Yucatán Peninsula. The streets are colorful and buzzing with life. And unwind in the evening with your accommodations at the Mayaland Hotel to enjoy balconies with garden views, stained glass windows, and pyramid horizons. You may also choose an optional evening premium experience to view the incredible sound and light show on the Pyramid of Kukulkán that tells the story of Chichén Itzá in a most unique way.
HOTEL STAY & LAND TOUR - Venture into one of Mexico’s ancient Mayan ruins, Chichen Itza. Chichen Itza dates to 400-500 A.D., its establishment in close proximity to a cenote helped the city to flourish.
