The Lodge at Chichen Itza is the area's finest property. Adjacent to her sister property, the Mayaland Hotel, guests may enjoy all of the nearby hotel's amenities. The Lodge at Chichen Itza is an intimate facility that serves only individual travelers, ensuring a restful stay after busy exploration of the archaeological sites. At the Lodge at Chichen Itza, guests are guaranteed total peace and tranquility, away from day visitors.

The Lodge at Chichen Itza sits on 100 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens in the heart of the archaeological park, with its own entrance to the Mayan temples. Clustered around secluded swimming pools, the 39 bungalows seem an extension of the gardens in which they are located. Built in traditional Mayan style with wood, stone, native marble and thatch, they were created for guests who wish to commune with nature and with the culture that rose to greatness here 1,000 years before.

Amenities at the Lodge at Chichen Itza
The experience of the Lodge at Chichen Itza is an experience of tradition, style and luxury. Lounge beside any of the 3 swimming pools, and enjoy being serenaded by local Mayan staff and strolling musicians.

At cocktail hour each evening, Jarana dancers perform native dances in whirls of graceful color. The stables offer horseback riding to The Thompson Rehoyada (sinkhole). Private guides are available for an in-depth tour of the magnificent temples of Chichen Itza, other attractions like the largest Cenote in Yucatan (Xtoloc), and at night the sound and light show which paints a vivid, dramatic picture of the Mayan civilization. Throughout the day courteous, friendly staff is eager to do everything to make a stay at the Lodge as relaxing and enjoyable as possible.

The Lodge at Chichen Itza is a step beyond the Mayaland concept of upscale accommodations in a traditional setting. Offering total immersion in the Yucatan-Maya experience, accommodations are an enclave of untamed nature in the shadow of ancient Chichen Itza, thatch-roofed bungalows that seem an extension of the landscape.

Oriented for maximum privacy and spectacular views, bungalows are equipped with all the amenities of the main house. In addition, each comes richly decorated with work of local artisans: ceramics, stained glass, weavings, and the region's precious hardwoods crafted in a variety of ways. The larger bungalows have separate bedrooms and pools; all bungalows have verandas and personal gardens.

Restaurants and Dining
Dining at The Lodge at Chichen Itza is a unique experience. The restaurant's a la carte menu includes Mexican classics, international standbys and a selection of regional cooking - a cuisine so different from "traditional" Mexican fare, it might be from another country. Yucatecan cooks are adept at blending herbs and spices into a range of sauces and sassy marinades. Regular menu changes keep things interesting. Ethnic dance troupes perform during the season, and guitar trios play the music of Yucatan's most beloved composers.

The kitchen collects its fruit and herbs, and many of its vegetables straight from the garden; its no wonder the results are so delightful. Regional Yucatecan cooking is a world apart from tacos and re-fried beans one generally associates with Mexico. The Yucatecans take pride in being different, and so they are. Their cuisine depends heavily on turkey and pork, rare spices, Mayan cooking techniques and quirky love of peas and olives. Breakfast in an infinite variety; and the hotel bar stocks an endless list of the nation finest tequilas.

This was our first trip to South America and we were a little nervous. But Adventure Life made things so easy! All our questions were answered before we left, and our guide, Vidal, was amazing! He gave us enough space to explore without rushing us along. He also knew where the best picture taking opportunities were, which was great.
