Join the crew of the Ocean Nova and experienced photography instructors from Luminous Landscape in this one-of-kind, 10-day photography air-cruise to Antarctica. This unique journey will take you to the Shetland Islands and along the Antarctic Peninsula, where you can learn how to take professional pictures from the experts at Luminous Landscapes. This voyage is truly an adventure of a lifetime!
Involves minimal physical effort and is typically associated with leisurely activities. Activities are low-intensity or last less than a few hours each day.
Arrive in Santiago and check into the hotel at any time of the day. In the evening, meet fellow shipmates in the hotel bar to discuss the exciting adventure ahead, if you wish.
Day 2: Fly to Punta Arenas
1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
In the morning, meet in the hotel lobby and transfer to the airport where you board your flight to Punta Arenas. Staff members from Antarctica XXI will greet you upon arrival and transfer you to the hotel. In the late afternoon, attend a brief meeting to learn important information and essential guidelines that pertain to your voyage. Afterwards, enjoy a welcome dinner that incorporates a typical regional menu.
Day 3: King George Island
1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Your Antarctic journey begins with a two-hour flight from Punta Arenas to King George Island, in the South Shetland Islands. The first part of the adventure takes you to the area surrounding Chile's Frei Station and Russia's Bellingshausen station. Then, board a Zodiac and cruise to your expedition vessel, the Ocean Nova.
Day 4-7: South Shetland Islands and Antarctic Peninsula
1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Spend the next four days cruising between the South Shetland Islands and the western coast of the Antarctic Peninsula. Each day, disembark by Zodiac to explore the landscape with expert polar guides. Between Zodiac excursions, sail among majestic icebergs and ice-filled fjords with the company of sea birds, seals, penguins and whales. Enjoy views from the deck or from the glass-enclosed lounge. A series of engaging lectures and presentations will be offered on board as well.
Flexibility is key to a successful voyage in Antarctica, as weather conditions and wildlife sitings provide changing opportunities for the ship's route. The Expedition Team works to provide a unique and extraordinary itinerary for each voyage to offer the best possible overviews of the Antarctic environment. Your journey may include visits to Paulet Island, Port Lockroy, Petermann Island, Hope Bay, Deception Island, the Lemaire Channel, Paradise Bay or several others magnificent places.
Day 8: Return to Punta Arenas
1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Return to King George Island and board your flight to Punta Arenas. On arrival, staff members from Antarctica XXI will transfer you to the hotel.
Day 9: Punta Arenas
1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Today has been scheduled to protect you against the possibility of weather delaying the return flight. If the flight arrives on schedule, attend engaging seminars with course instructors to help consolidate your newly acquired skills using your expedition materials. You may also choose to explore Punta Arenas on your own.
Day 10: Fly to Santiago

Everything was amazing! The planning with Adventure Life went smoothly. The actual trip was fantastic! One of the best trips I have experienced. The cruise staff members were knowledgeable and attentive. I will be writing more about this on the blog!

Hannah and Nur got the gist of what we wanted our trip to be. They got us in hotels that were located centrally to historic tours. Tours and excursions that were significant, enriching and enjoyable. We had drivers that were on time/reliable. We got from location to location with ease. I would never have been able to plan this myself. I would not have known enough to ask for what we needed. This was above and beyond what I expected. Well done!
