Today is my full day enjoying the Arenal (La Fortuna)! I got picked up at 7:30 AM to do the Mistico Tour and Hanging Bridges where the place has the view of the magnificent Arenal Volcano.
The Mistico Arenal Hanging Bridges Tour offers a captivating and immersive experience in the heart of Costa Rica's lush rainforest, providing visitors with a unique opportunity to explore the breathtaking beauty of the Arenal region. Nestled within the Arenal Volcano National Park, the Mistico Hanging Bridges boast a series of suspended bridges that traverse the treetops, allowing guests to marvel at the diverse flora and fauna from an elevated perspective. The well-maintained trails wind through dense foliage, providing a perfect blend of adventure and serenity. As we navigate the network of hanging bridges, we encounter panoramic views of the Arenal Volcano, pristine waterfalls, and an abundance of wildlife, including colorful birds and howler monkeys. The Mistico Tour not only offers an exhilarating outdoor experience but also serves as an educational journey, providing insights into the region's rich biodiversity and ecological significance. With knowledgeable guides leading the way, participants can gain a deeper understanding of the tropical ecosystem, making the Mistico Arenal Hanging Bridges Tour a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers alike.
After the long walk and the overlooking view of the hanging bridges, I proceeded with our next stop of the day, the La Fortuna Waterfalls.
The mesmerizing beauty of La Fortuna Waterfall left a lasting impression on me. Descending from a height of 70 meters into a crystal-clear pool amidst the lush tropical rainforest, the waterfall creates a serene and picturesque environment. The journey to this natural wonder is accessible through a scenic hike, involving a total of 500 steps along well-maintained trails. This adventure offers glimpses of diverse flora and fauna indigenous to the region. The cool mist and the soothing sounds of cascading water accompanied us as we descended to the base, where travelers had the option to take a refreshing dip in the pool or simply enjoy looking at the natural splendor. Opting for the latter, I later regretted my decision, realizing the appeal of immersing myself in the cold water after the challenging hike. As I was seated on a bench, listening to the rhythmic sounds of the falling water, and surrounded by the idyllic setting and dramatic scenery, it made me realized that La Fortuna Waterfall provides an unforgettable and rejuvenating experience for those seeking a profound connection with the breathtaking natural landscapes of Costa Rica.
In the afternoon, we eagerly look forward to participating in another activity that excites me, particularly in Arenal. Our upcoming adventure centers around hiking the Arenal Volcano trail, presenting a unique chance to witness the aftermath of volcanic eruptions. We navigate two separate trails on this expedition: the first guides us through the secondary forest, offering a closer perspective of the magnificent Arenal. However, this path entails a steep incline and includes sharp rocks originating from the volcano's past eruptions. The second leg of our hike explores the primary forest, showcasing the diverse flora and fauna native to Costa Rica. Distinctions between the secondary and primary forests become evident throughout the trek. After a rewarding two-hour hike, our exploration concludes with the enjoyment of fresh fruit snacks generously provided by our knowledgeable guides.
My day ended in Arenal with a relaxing night, soaking in the hot springs at Baldi Resort. The resort is quite big and has plenty of thermal pools to choose from. It offers a truly immersive and soothing experience. Each pool boasts varying temperatures, allowing me to find the perfect therapeutic haven amidst the lush surroundings. The cascading waterfalls and tropical green create a serene ambiance, making it an ideal spot to unwind. Beyond the pools, Baldi Hot Springs also features well-appointed facilities, including spas and wellness services, ensuring a holistic retreat for both body and mind. Whether reveling in the warmth of the mineral-rich waters or appreciating the peaceful surroundings, Baldi Hot Springs provides a memorable escape into tranquility – the perfect way for me to conclude a full day of enjoying the wonders of Arenal.
Adventure Life took care of everything! All we had to do was show up when we were supposed to, which made our first trip to Costa Rica largely stress-free and incredibly fun. Our trip reps, Hannah and Mariethony, were helpful and responsive, getting back to us by email usually within a few hours. Our accommodations were all great, and we got incredibly blessed with some absolutely stellar guides and drivers.
Our Jungle & Beach trip was an excellent balance of adventure and rest. We got to try out a lot of different activities, including snorkeling, hiking, white water rafting and kayaking, while also partaking of some rest around the pool or by the ocean. We enjoyed seeing and exploring the beautiful Caribbean side of the country.

For our first trip to Costa Rica, Adventure Life designed a tour that meets the interests, ecological and adventure, of our party; but also takes into account our physical limitations sine we are all septuagenarian. We are looking forward to the trip.
