Historical Significance of the Angermeyer Waterfront Inn One of Angermeyer Waterfront Inn's central structures is Gus Angermeyer's "cave". This area is now used as the Galapagos hotel reception and cafe. This legendary site was Gus' sanctuary; he was among the earliest settlers on Santa Cruz Galapagos Island. Inspired by Darwin´s descriptions, he and his two brothers left Germany in the early 1930s, seeking for a life in harmony with nature, finding their home in Santa Cruz Galapagos Island. They settled on the area later known as "Angermeyer Point" on Santa Cruz Galapagos Island. Part of the original home structures are still standing today and are a main part of the atmosphere of this Galapagos Hotel.
