The Galapagos Islands are like no other destination on the planet, and planning a trip here is a completely unique experience as well. First, you need to fly into Quito or Guayaquil, Ecuador as you can only fly to Galapagos from Ecuador's mainland. Most travelers choose to take a Galapagos cruise and sometimes extend their stay with a few extra days on the Islands and some day trips.
