Day 1: Valleta, Malta | Embark

Valletta is the tiny capital of the island of Malta. The walled city was established in the 1500s on a peninsula by the Knights of St. John, a Roman Catholic order. It has a rich historical past and is a European Art City and a World Heritage City. It has an abundance of museums, palaces and grand churches to visit but be sure not to miss out on exploring one of its beautiful gardens.

Day 2: Syracuse, Sicily

Syracuse is a city on the Ionian coast of Sicily that's known for its ancient ruins. It was once the largest city in the world, bigger than Athens and Corinth and as you can imagine it's steeped in history. Visit Parco Archeologico della Neapolis, one of Sicily's greatest archaeological sites. Relax in one of its stylish little cafes that surround its beautiful baroque piazzas before wandering down its medieval lanes towards the sparkling blue sea.

Day 3: At sea

Feel the wind fill the sails and gently carry you from one gorgeous destination to the next. During your time on board, you can choose to relax on a sun lounger or cool off in one of the pools on the top deck, while more adventurous passengers may enjoy the opportunity to climb the rigging or even have a go at steering the ship. Alternatively, you can wander the interior areas of the ship and discover relaxing lounges, and a peaceful library.

Day 4: Pilos, Greece

Homer's “Wise King Nestor” was very wise indeed to build his magnificent palace near Pilos. For the city's harbor of Navarino Bay and the land-locked lake that was the original harbor were a perfect refuge from storms – and invaders. And it was at this site on October 20, 1827, with the help of Britain, Russia, and France, that modern Greece attained independence, defeating the Turkish navy in the Battle of Navarino Bay.

Day 5: Monemvasia, Greece

From the shore, it's a big rock sticking out into the sea. Then you pass over the causeway, and through an iron fortress gate, and suddenly, the town of Monemvasia is before you, a perfectly preserved Byzantine fortified port, once 60,000 strong, now home to just a few hundred. You can readily see why the name Monemvasia means single entrance! In the rocky hills above, ancient Byzantine ruins loom over the town, while below a maze of red-tiled roofs and twisting alleys hide tavernas and cafes and the home of revered Greek poet Yannis Ritsos.

Day 6: Nafplio, Greece

Nafplio is a seaport town in the Peloponnese that is one of Greece’s prettiest and most romantic towns. Elegant Venetian houses, neoclassical mansions, and interesting museums nestle beneath the towering Palamidi fortress. There are also plenty of quayside cafes to relax in and some lovely boutiques to keep the keen shoppers occupied. The town is an ideal base from which to explore many nearby ancient sites. it is a popular destination for locals from Athens so it is busy in peak season.

Day 7: Piraeus (Port of Athens), Greece

Day 9: Morning sailing through Samos Strait | Kusadasi, Turkey

Kusadasi is a popular Turkish port of call for cruise ships, as not only is it a bustling resort town full of shops, bars, and restaurants, but it is also the main access point for the famous archeological site at Ephesus. Extensive excavations have revealed an ancient city through which visitors can now wander and observe the wonders of a bygone civilization. Near Kusadasi, on Turkey’s turquoise coast, we make a stop at Camlimani, a small pellucid bay. Swim at the beach, snorkel, stroll the pine-scented grounds, or have a run at the rides in the aquapark.

Day 10: Patmos, Greece

This serene island is known as the site of the apocalyptic revelations of St. John the Divine, The cave where he is said to have lived is now the site of the Monastery of the Apocalypse. It houses priceless icons and manuscripts in its treasury.

Day 11: Amorgos, Greece

Amorgós’ cliff-clinging monastery of Hozoviotissas has one of the most spectacular locations of any in Greece. Only a few monks live in the cavernous 50-room monastery, but the view from their terrace aerie might make you think they had all flown to heaven from this very spot.

Day 12: Mykonos, Greece

One of the most cosmopolitan of all the Greek Islands, Mykonos is a contrast of rocky hills and beautiful beaches. Hora, the capital, spreads around a colorful harbor, a popular meeting place, overlooked by a variety of tavernas, in which fishing boats nestle side by side with luxury yachts.

Day 13: Spetses, Greece

Spetses, an island boasting a long naval tradition, is famous for its significant contribution to the 1821 War of Independence. Take a romantic trip around the island in horse-drawn carriages and admire the grand mansions adorning the narrow cobbled streets of the island. Due to its rich history, there are many attractions worthy of a visit including museums, churches, and cathedrals. There are also many beautiful beaches within easy reach where you can soak up the sun or take part in the water sports on offer.

Day 14: Piraeus (Port of Athens), Greece | Disembark
