Day 1: San Cristobal Airport | Embark | Interpretation Center

Welcome to the Galapagos Islands aboard the Galapagos Horizon! The guide and crew greet you and show you to your accommodations upon your arrival.  Once you are settled in, the guide and cruise manager will hold a short briefing on all safety and emergency protocols, different areas of the vessel and the normal routine of the itinerary.
The Gianni Arismendy Interpretation Center was opened in 1998 as a phase of the project “Interpretation and Environment Education Project.” Visitors enjoy expositions on natural history, human history, and conservation. The conservation efforts represent the movement to protect the wildlife and natural environment through means of population and tourist control. The Gianni Arismendy Interpretation Center has an outdoor stadium, audio-visual equipment, and meeting rooms.
Activities: Short hiking, swimming, and snorkeling.
Difficulty:  Easy/Moderate

Possible Wildlife: Sea lions, various shorebirds, sally lightfoot crabs, frigate birds.

Day 2: Pitt Point | Witch Hill, San Cristobal | Kicker Rock

In the morning, visit  Pitt Point, situated on the northeastern tip of the island, hosts frigatebirds, storm petrels, and all three types of booby birds: the Nazca, blue-footed and red-footed boobies. A steep trail goes up a cliff and through a ravine leading visitors to an area with an abundance of birds. This site is also great for snorkeling and scuba diving.

Highlights:    Wonderful landscape, sea lion colony, three possible species of boobies.
Activities:    Dinghy ride, snorkeling, kayaking & hike (1.5 miles / 2.5 km)

Difficulty:    Moderate / difficult
Located on the northern coast, this eroded hill and its surroundings present one of the most picturesque beaches in the Galapagos with its white powdery sand and the abundance of animals. Wildlife includes sea turtles, rays, and various types of booby birds. The clear water provides an excellent opportunity for enjoying swimming and snorkeling.

Highlights:    Beautiful rock formations, sea lions, shore birds, finches and mockingbirds; snorkeling: nice tropical fish, anemones, sponge coral
Activities:    Hike, dinghy ride, snorkeling & kayaking
Type of Landing:    Wet landing
Difficulty:    Easy walk along the beach

This striking rock formation is located a couple hours off the western shore of San Cristobal. Jutting out of the water, the rocks stand vertically at hundreds of feet above the ocean divided by a small channel. Although there are no landing areas, kayaking and dinghy rides allow visitors to spot a variety of marine life.

Highlights:    Sharks, tropical fish, turtles, manta rays (occ.), hammerhead sharks, spectacular rock formations; sea birds: blue-footed boobies, Nazca boobies & frigatebirds.

Day 3: Suarez Point | Gardner Bay | Osborn Islet, EspaƱola

This is the only site in Galapagos where the Waved Albatross nests. They come back only once a year to meet the same mate, year after year. They spend the rest of the year at sea. Apart from these amazing birds are the Galapagos Hawks that can be seen and the amazing formations and blow hole on the other side of the island, reached by a short hike.
Activities: Hike
Difficulty:  Easy/Moderate
Landing: Dry
Possible Wildlife: Sea lions, marine iguanas, Galapagos hawk, waved albatross, red-billed tropic birds, various shorebirds, sally lightfoot crabs.
What to Bring: Sturdy hiking shoes and walking sticks to aid on uneven terrain.
Gardner Bay is an excellent place to see sea lions lounging on the beach while mockingbirds get up close to see if they can steal water or crumbs. Over time, the mockingbird must have been offered water or food from tourists and now they have no fear of walking on your things or landing very close to you. It is so important not to feed or touch the animals. It can disrupt their normal behaviors and threaten their future.

Possible Wildlife: Sea lions, various shorebirds, mockingbirds, stingrays, sea turtles.
What to Bring: Swimwear and footwear for walking in and out of the water.

Day 4: Bachas Beach, Santa Cruz | Disembark

Bachas beach has beautiful green and blue waters that contrast along the surf of the black lava shores. In the air, various shorebirds fly searching for food. On the shore, you can explore the sand dunes and find a saltwater lagoon with greater pink flamingos.
Activities: Walking on the beach and swimming.
Difficulty:  Easy
Landing: Wet
Possible Wildlife: Sea lions, various shorebirds, mockingbirds, sea turtles, flamingos.
