In 1990, when Allison was 18 months old, my father took the rest of the family to the Galapagos. This is the trip that Allison missed.

Day 1: Boarding, Daphne, North Seymour

We landed on Baltra, went through the entry procedure, reclaimed our luggage and (after a bit of confusion) got on the bus taking us the 5 minutes from the airport to the small port where the Nemo II was anchored. Once on board, we met our fellow travelers, got settled in our cabins, and motored around Daphne Mayor, which gives a very clear view of the islands' volcanic history. Then, after delicious hot lunch and time to settle, we made a dry landing on North Seymour. The very first thing I saw were blue-footed boobies! And then frigate birds, land iguanas, and more. Back to the boat, where after dinner, we motored south to the southern end of Isla Santa Cruz, to Puerto Ayora. Some of the passengers found the passage a bit rough, but happily not Al or myself. We anchored in the harbor later at night (I woke up when the anchors went down, but didn't check the clock).

Relax. We've got this.
