Hop into Zodiacs to explore the winding, mangrove-shrouded canals of Bahía Magdalena. Numerous species of birds can be spotted here: frigate birds, pelicans, cormorants, terns, great blue herons, ibis and more. It's not unusual to see 40 species in a single day while exploring these fertile shorelines, where birds refuel along their migratory journeys.
Each year during their long migration, gray whales pause to birth and nurse their calves in sheltered lagoons along the Pacific coast of Baja California. Your next destination—the spacious bay of Laguna San Ignacio—is one of their favorite haunts. You will linger in this remote locale, which provides an extraordinary opportunity to observe and photograph mother whales and their calves up close. It’s not unusual for mothers and calves to approach the Zodiacs, and the calves sometimes play “hide and seek.”
As you travel south along the peninsula’s Pacific coast, attend talks by experts and onboard photographers. You can also join naturalists on deck to search for a variety of marine life, including the largest animal on Earth, the blue whale.
With nature as your guide and camera in hand, you’ll take advantage of incredible photo opportunities as you explore the desert islands scattered throughout the Gulf of California, such as Isla San Pedro Martir, Los Islotes, Isla San Francisco, and more. Cruise past the spectacular Friars rock formations at Land's End, and enjoy an optional excursion to the historic town center of San José del Cabo. You’ll venture into waters that provide the best opportunities for spotting whales and employ a full range of exploration tools. Snorkel among sea lions and colorful fish, kayak in turquoise bays edged by dramatic cliffs and discover the peninsula's endemic wildlife on naturalist-led excursions, where you may encounter bottlenose dolphins, fin whales, Heermann's gulls and more.

This was my first experience with Adventure Life - and I couldn't have been more pleased with the trip. The guides and local staff in both Buenos Aires and Uruguay were terrific - extremely helpful and accommodating. I really enjoyed meeting the friendly staff in Buenos Aires in person (I left my bags with them for the afternoon).
