Venice has been known as the "Queen of the Adriatic," "City of Masks," "The Floating City," and many other epithets. Described as "undoubtedly the most beautiful city built by man," Venice is also widely considered as one of Europe's most romantic cities. Founded in the 5th century, the city stretches across 118 small islands in the marshy Venetian Lagoon along the Adriatic. Dock at the San Basilio pier after navigating by the famous St. Mark’s Square down the grand canal. Explore this stunning city before boarding your ship to embark on your adventure this afternoon.
Hvar is a Croatian island in the Adriatic Sea, blessed with a large fertile coastal plain and freshwater springs. Its hillsides are covered in pine forests, with vineyards, olive groves, fruit orchards, and lavender fields in the agricultural areas. The climate is characterized by mild winters and warm summers with many hours of sunshine. Kayak down the coastline or take an independent hike up to the fortress to have some incredible views of the picturesque harbor.
Kotor is a coastal town in Montenegro. The old port of Kotor is surrounded by an impressive city wall built by the Republic of Venice and the Venetian influence remains dominant among the architectural influences. In 1979 the Bay of Kotor, the City of Kotor, and the surrounding territory were listed in the UNESCO Heritage as a Cultural Site. Enjoy an optional excursion such as a walking discovery tour, or learn about the heritage and countryside of Montenegro. For the active guests, there’s incredible biking along the coast as well as a hike up to the fortress.
Dubrovnik is one of the most prominent destinations in the Adriatic Sea. It lies in the region of Dalmatia and is considered to be among the ten best-preserved medieval walled cities in the world - for which it was awarded UNESCO World Heritage status in 1979. Explore its magnificent architecture and enjoy views of the sea from the clifftops.
Corfu is the second-largest Greek island in the Ionian Sea and is considered to be the greenest. Its Greek name, Kerkyra or Korkyra, is related to two powerful water symbols: Poseidon, god of the sea, and Asopos, an important Greek mainland river. In 2007, the island's old town was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Perhaps the most popular attraction on the island other than the impressive old town is the Achillion Palace, the summer palace of Austria’s Empress Elizabeth. It truly is worth exploring.
Day 8: Itea (Delphi), Greece | Corinth Canal (Transit), Greece
Itea is a small town situated on the north coast of the Gulf of Corinth, 2 km west of Kirra, 8 km southwest of Delphi. The town has a nice beach along with some shops, cafes, and restaurants. It allows the closest access to the incredible sight of Delphi which is within the top three archaeological attractions in Greece and in 1987 was inscribed as a UNESCO Heritage Site.
So narrow! So dramatic! The canal was first completed in 1893, despite previous attempts from ancient times - the first plans date to 602 BC. The Roman Emperor Nero actually started construction in 67 AD, making the first cut himself with a golden pick. The canal you transit is 6.3 kilometers (3.9 mi) in length.
Mykonos is one of the most visited Greek Islands. It is part of the Cyclades group and lies between Tinos, Syros, Paros and Naxos. Mykonos is so incredibly beautiful, it is not surprising that it has become one of the most desired destinations in the world. When you also add the cosmopolitan lifestyle, the sophisticated nightlife and the historical treasures of the nearby UNESCO-Awarded Sacred Island of Delos you have the recipe for an unforgettable holiday. Explore the island’s incredible beaches, boutiques, clubs, and churches.
Milos Island lies halfway between Crete and Piraeus port. Milos is "the island of colors", thanks to its volcanic origin which offers beaches and waters with a variety of colors and distinct beauty. Milos is famous for its dentelated coastline. With more than 75 small and big beaches of crystal, deep blue waters, multi-colored carved rocks and white-yellow coasts, it is virtually guaranteed to impress. Due to the volcanic origin of its ground, Milos presents an impressive coastal morphology and diversity. There are white-yellow beaches, bays with pebbles surrounded by stones, and white, red, yellow or black rocks. The sea there has distinctive colors and depths and there are organized beaches for swimming or you can choose more isolated and wild ones. It is certain that the island’s clear waters and its beaches of incomparable beauty offer you an unprecedented experience.
Day 11: Athens, Piraeus, Greece | Disembark

Piraeus, roughly translating to “the place over the passage”, is an important Greek port located within the Athens agglomeration, in the Attica Basin. Now a peninsula, Piraeus, originally a rocky island, was developed in the early 5th century BC. when it was initially designated as Athens’ import and transit trade port. It is the largest marine-based shipping center of Greece, one of the largest ports in Europe, and considered the second largest passenger port in the world. Inhabited since the 26th century, it wasn’t until the 6th century BC that Piraeus began catching attention. Disembark your ship after breakfast and explore Athens before continuing on your adventures or returning home.

Kate was great to work with in the planning stage. She was prompt, helpful, and efficient. Our tour guide, Edwin, was knowledgeable and passionate. We were very happy to have traveled with Adventure Life, it made the trip easy and a true pleasure. We could concentrate on enjoying the experience rather than the details of travel.

The info on the website was laid out very well. I did some comparisons with other tours and found Adventure Life met a lot of what I wanted in an Antarctica trip at the cheapest price. Requested a quote on Claudia contacted me right away. She answered a lot of questions the I had via email even though she offered to discuss via phone call. I’m more of an email person so appreciated how she accommodated that and answered all my questions. And when I was ready to book, she quickly got the ball rolling with getting our spots reserved on the trip my friend and I wanted. Thanks again, Claudia!

(1) great information on the website and throughout all the "materials." (2) Jane Packer is great: knowledgeable, responsive, takes a personal interest and tone, seems to care about the customer as a person not a sale.

For our first trip to Costa Rica, Adventure Life designed a tour that meets the interests, ecological and adventure, of our party; but also takes into account our physical limitations sine we are all septuagenarian. We are looking forward to the trip.
