Along the Dalmatian coast, this ancient cosmopolitan city and former imperial residence reveals all: fortified walls, towers, temples, palaces and baths. A museum in itself Split (Croatia) is a UNESCO World Heritage site and home to Diocletian’s famous Palace. Pharaonic egypt, Ancient Rome, the Renaissance and the present exist side by side in perfect harmony.
Day 3: Dubrovnik, Croatia
Known throughout the world as the Pearl of the Adriatic, the walled city of Dubrovnik built on a rock has preserved its Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque heritage. Palaces, monuments and white stone churches take you on a journey through the various periods and are in perfect harmony. Long considered as a rival to Venice, traces of its illustrious past are to be found throughout the city which is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Day 4: Parga, Greece
In the heart of a sheltered cove on the north western shores of Greece in the Epirus province, Parga was Venetian from the 15th to the end of the 18th century. During that period it belonged to Ali Pacha, a high official of Soliman the Magnificent. Its imposing Venetian citadel built on a steep rocky promontory dominates the town, the port and the sweet smelling pines which surround it. Today it is a lovely seaside resort.
From Itea you will enter the immaculately preserved sacred site of Delphi, the white ruins of Apollo’s famous sanctuary rising up out of the pines. the spectacular crossing of the Corinth Canal will leave you with a very special memory, a majestic impression.
Day 5: Itea (Greece) / Crossing the Corinth Canal
From Itea we enter the immaculately preserved sacred site of the Delphi Valley. Clinging to the side of the mountain, the white ruins of Apollo’s famous sanctuary rise up out of the pines.
A grandiose impressive work of art linking the ionian and Aegean seas, the Corinth Canal is the fruit of a dream dating back to ancient times. The emperor Nero had at one time envisaged its creation.
Day 6: Delos and Mykonos, Greece
Birthplace of the twins Artemis and Apollo, Delos is one of the most importantmythological, historical and archaeological sites in Greece. Legend has it that becausethe island was Apollo’s birthplace it became an important sanctuary visited by pilgrims.
Queen of the Cyclades with its white mills, labyrinth of whitewashed alleyways and quaint little port where boats bob lazily at the foot of the terraces, Mykonos never fails to inspire. One of the most romantic spots is the colourful “Little Venice” district where the houses are built right on the sea giving it a special ambiance. Let yourself be tempted by the numerous taverns which line its seafront opposite the old port.
Day 7: Dikili (Turkey)
A small and peaceful port on the shores of the Aegean, Dikili has retained its picturesque charm. From here we head out to explore Pergamum, one of Turkey’s finest archaeological sites, not just because of the many and varied ruins but also for its splendid hilltop location. At one time a serious rival to Alexandria and Rome, Pergamum offers visitors the rich heritage of its architecture in an intimate setting.
Day 8: Istanbul, Turkey
Disembark this morning for your continued journey home.

The trip was terrific with great planning on your part. Most of the adventures were not mainstream and somewhat off the beaten path which made it especially enjoyable!!
