When you talk about iconic places in Peru, Machu Picchu definitely tops the list - it has long been one of those places one dreams of visiting someday. For me this dream finally became reality as I stepped foot onto this wondrous mountain city for a full day tour around its grounds - something which left me feeling both awestruck and humbled by how much human ingenuity can produce such wonders under difficult circumstances without modern technology available today. There is no doubt that if you ever find yourself looking for somewhere remarkable, then I highly recommend you come visit this hidden gem nestled amongst mountains so high they seem as if they touch heaven itself. I had the chance to explore Machu Picchu Pueblo the next day, and had a relaxing afternoon before going back to Cusco.
