Upon arrival at San Cristobal airport, personnel of the Galapagos National Park will check your luggage in order to avoid the introduction of foreign plants or animals to the Islands. The entrance fee must be paid to them. Passengers are received by the naturalist guide and taken on a five-minute bus drive to the pier, to board the Galapagos Sea Star.
Visit the Breeding Center David Rodriguez, also known as “La Galapaguera,” located in Cerro Colorado on the southeastern side of San Cristobal Island. Reachable by road in about an hour from Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, this site offers the chance to spot land birds such as warblers, finches, and mockingbirds among the trees and shrubs. Walk along the trails to observe giant tortoises living freely within a protected reserve, safeguarded from introduced predators like pigs and goats.
Activities: Hiking
Day 2: Suarez Point | Gardner Bay, Gardner Islet & Osborn Islet
Follow the trail to Suarez Point to observe blue-footed boobies, Nazca boobies, and the world’s largest colony of waved albatrosses—nearly all 12,000 breeding pairs nest here. Visit a scenic oceanfront site where towering cliffs serve as natural launching pads for the albatrosses. Witness the impressive blowhole that shoots seawater high into the air, and capture stunning photos of the island’s dramatic landscape.
Activities: Hiking
Explore the stunning Gardner Bay, known for its pristine white-sand beach and lively sea lion colony. Stroll along the shore surrounded by playful sea lions, or dive into the clear waters to swim alongside their curious pups. Keep an eye out for Galápagos mockingbirds that often wander the beach.
Activities: Hiking, snorkeling, dinghy ride, kayaking
Day 3: Punta Cormorant | Devil’s Crown | Baroness Viewing | Post office bay
Discover Cormorant Point, home to a large flamingo lagoon where common stilts and white-cheeked pintails are often seen. Explore two contrasting beaches—the Green Beach, colored by olivine crystals in the sand, and the Flour Sand Beach, made of fine white coral. Continue to Devil’s Crown, the rocky remains of a submerged volcano, and snorkel through its crystal-clear waters teeming with diverse marine life.
Activities: Hiking, snorkeling, dinghy ride, kayaking
In the afternoon, visit the Baroness Viewing Point, a scenic spot offering sweeping views and a glimpse into the island’s mysterious past. Once home to a notorious baroness and her three lovers, the site is steeped in legends and tales of intrigue. Follow the gentle trails to explore Floreana’s unique flora and fauna. Continue to the historic Post Office Bay, where 18th-century whalers placed a wooden barrel that served as an informal mail system—a tradition that continues today. Drop off a postcard and see if it reaches its destination before you return home.
Activities: Hiking, Kayaking, Snorkeling, dinghy ride
Santa Fe Island (Barrington) features a beautiful bay and anchorage on its northeast coast. Explore two visitor trails—one leading to a scenic cliff-top viewpoint with sweeping coastal views, and another that winds from a small sandy beach through a forest of towering prickly pear cacti.
Activities: Hiking, snorkeling, dinghy ride, kayaking
In the afternoon, visit a small island formed by uplifted lava and blanketed with Opuntia cacti. The island hosts one of the largest sea lion colonies and is home to vibrant yellow and red land iguanas. The landscape is dominated by the Sesuvium plant, which transforms with the seasons—turning greenish-yellow during the rainy months and bright red from June through January.
Activities: Hiking, dinghy ride, kayaking
Explore North Seymour, home to abundant Galápagos sea lions, blue-footed boobies, and magnificent frigatebirds. Formed by uplifted submarine lava flows and sediment layers, the island showcases a rugged volcanic landscape. Its terrain is defined by an arid vegetation zone, offering a striking backdrop for observing the island’s thriving wildlife.
Activities: Hiking, snorkeling, dinghy ride
In the afternoon, visit Bachas Beach on the north shore of Santa Cruz Island, a beautiful spot ideal for swimming and relaxation. A remnant of the U.S. presence during World War II—a floating pier—still remains along the shore. The area is rich in wildlife, with sightings of flamingos, Sally Lightfoot crabs, hermit crabs, black-necked stilts, and whimbrels. The beach also serves as an important nesting site for sea turtles.
Activities: Hiking, Snorkeling
Day 6: Mosquera Islet | Baltra | Disembark
1 Breakfast
Wet Landing, Mosquera Islet lies between Baltra and North Seymour Islands and was formed by an uplifted reef of rocks and coral. Measuring only about 160 meters at its narrowest point, the islet hosts one of the largest sea lion colonies in the archipelago and attracts numerous shorebirds. On rare occasions, orcas have been spotted in the surrounding waters hunting sea lions.
Activities: Hiking, snorkeling
