Islas Plaza | Santa Fe Island

We arrived in South Plaza, also known as Islas Plaza, in the morning on our third day and strolled through the Cactus Forest, where we spotted even more massive cactus. There are recently planted opuntia with fences to keep land iguanas away while they grow.

We ran into Erin for the second time at South Plaza! It was our turn to give her something in return this time! We gave her dried mangoes and some polvoron from the Philippines!

We saw numerous iguanas, both the land and marine ones. Because of their Godzilla-like look, these marine iguanas are popular among tourists. And, due to the close proximity of land iguanas to marine iguanas, South Plaza is the only spot on Earth where we can locate a hybrid iguana, albeit we were not fortunate enough to view one.

We also came across some sea lions, which was a fascinating sight to watch.

We also saw swallow-tailed gulls, a mother and her baby off the coast.

We traveled to Santa Fe Island in the afternoon and were greeted by these sea lions, who were lying in the sand and playing on the beach.

During our walk in Santa Fe, we saw land iguanas and opuntia cacti (big cactus).

To top off an incredible day, we were able to observe a school of eagle rays swimming just by our dinghy.
